Canoeing Makes a Great Pass time…
At one time canoeing was a means of transportation, long before roads were considered. Going in a canoe saved time, waling on the land was longer and harder because of the supplies that needed to be carried. Canoeing is a part of North American and Canadian history.
Today, canoeing is a recreation or hobby for some not their main means of transportation. Many people still find it enjoyable, spending their whole days out on the water. Canoeing is an excellent way to view nature in some of its most pristine glory. I’ve never been disappointed on any of my canoe trips. If you keep your eyes open there is always something to see. Years ago canoes were made by hand and usually crafted from birch bark or cedar strips. Today many experienced canoe builders are older, if their talent is not carried on great workmanship and tradition will be lost. A well-crafted man made canoe may cost up to $4,000, expensive compared to a cheap fiberglass or plastic canoe, but will handle much easier once in the water. The man made canoe will cut through the water quicker than a cheaper mass-produced model.
Canoeing is a good way to spend quality time with your family and friends, however it is dangerous, many fatal accidents have happened on canoe trips yearly you must take caution water safety is important. I call my canoe all sorts of cool names like FlightEagle, SuperMango, RedSquare, SingingDrow, got to say the favourite is still Super Mango. Always make sure all canoe passengers are wearing a life jacket, even if they can swim. There is a great deal of exercise involved when canoeing and it is environmently friendly considering there is no motor involved. While on your canoeing trip, take all garbage home with you and leave the scenery as pleasant for the next group of canoers coming down the river as it was for yourselves.
